Office - energy saving checklist

As the costs of energy continue to rise it’s important for businesses to reduce consumption by as much as possible. Our checklist provides some suggestions on how to achieve this in an office environment.

Using our checklist

Our checklist asks you to take stock of current energy usage and to address the resulting issues, with the aim of making savings. You should record your results from the questions asked and then use these to develop an action plan. At the end of each section we have provided you with additional guidance to help you do this.

Three energy-saving areas

The document is divided into three sections. The first deals with heating and asks questions that relate to controlling room temperatures so that heating systems are being used in the most economical manner. The second section deals with office lighting and how it is controlled. Guidance is given on types of lamp that use less electricity plus advice on methods of lighting control. The final part of our checklist asks questions about office equipment, and here we suggest ways that you can reduce energy consumption with computers, printers, copiers etc.
