Safety procedure - riding a quad bike

Quad bikes can be useful for moving around on larger premises, but they bring with them a risk of serious accidents. Use our safety procedure to instruct staff in your site rules.

Using our procedure

Quad bikes are used in various sectors, including land management, leisure, tourism, hospitality, agriculture and forestry.

They must be used with caution; according to the HSE more than half of all quad bike riders have been thrown off on at least one occasion, and on average these accidents cause two deaths and 1,000 serious injuries every year to UK workers.

Our Safety Procedure - Riding a Quad Bike outlines the risks and necessary precautions. Check that it covers your own circumstances and equipment, make any amendments needed and issue it to staff as part of an instruction session.
