Failure to manage dust properly is likely to provoke complaints from neighbours. If there is dust on your site that could cause a problem, you should work out where it could be blown to, and identify how you intend to control it. Keep records of your survey and plans.

Dust management

If you have clouds of dust blowing into gardens or covering cars, youre not going to be too popular with your neighbours and are likely to get a complaint. To help reduce the chances of this happening weve produced a Dust Management Checklist, which can be used to conduct a formal assessment of your site. Use the document to identify any possible sources of dust, likely areas in which it may build up and, most importantly, what youre going to do to prevent it becoming a nuisance. The second part gives some handy tips and guidance on what steps you can take to minimise dust problems.
